Why Learning To Say ‘No’ Can Be A Good Thing

The word ‘No’ is often associated to being negative, and while ‘No’ is a form of negative statement, it can affect you in a good way. Especially in a professional environment, we are programmed to say ‘Yes’ to everything, especially when the request comes from our superiors. We are programmed to think that by saying ‘Yes’ we are showing how hard-working we are. However, often times, it takes a toll on our mind and body.
If you are already slammed with a month’s work but you are given another task that will require you to postpone other tasks, politely say ‘No’ and then explain about the work load that you already have. As busy as work can get, it is important to take care of your body and soul and that means, declining to some request.
Such case is true for your personal life as well. For example, it is okay to say ‘No’ to a weekend party because you want to read and rest at home instead. It is okay to say ‘No’ to going out because you want to save money instead. At the end of the day, you have to remember to take care of yourself first before you take care of anything else.
