A good working memory is something that everybody should foster, possess and regularly maintain. Your memory of faces, names, facts, information, dates, events, circumstances and other things concerning your everyday life is the measure of your ability to prevail in today’s fast-paced, information-dependent society. With a good memory, you don’t have to fear forgetting/misplacing important information and you can overcome mental barriers that hinder you from achieving success in your career, love life, and personal life. Human memory in essence is composed of complicated neural connections in your brain which are believed to be capable of holding millions of data. Many people believe that their memory gets worse as they get older. This is true only for those who do not use their memory properly. Memory is like ...

Success Comes to Those Who Hustle

Image
In today’s business world, when we think of someone who hustles, we think of someone who stays busy, thinks quickly, seizes opportunity, has a great sales pitch (the gift of persuasion), can take on any challenge, makes things happen, and gets things done! A hustler is someone who just plain and simple makes a way when there’s NO way. A hustler will never take “no” for an answer. They are individuals who more often than not, find themselves on the winning side succeeding and achieving at just about everything they take on. We can clearly see from example and experience that a successful result is tied to one’s ability and willingness to work harder than anyone. While each one has their unique style or method for winning, there are a few staples that every hustler keeps in their tool bag. Courage, willpower, and guts – these are the foundation of a hustler’s game. Every hustler has a vision, a goal, or a desire they see in their mind’s eye. They are willing to go after it regardle...

Effective Delegation

Image
The ability to effectively delegate may be one of the most neglected supervisory competencies in modern business management. Unfortunately, supervisors or managers who do not delegate effectively are usually so busy putting out the fires in their inbox that they are too busy to develop their people, too busy to plan, and too busy to think about how the big picture impacts their work. In short, they are too busy to lead. Consequently, it is critical that supervisors and managers at all levels learn good delegation skills and practice them consistently. Delegation is not rocket science, but mastery does require deliberate and regular practice. Many supervisors have little patience for delegation because they have had too many instances of assigning a task, only to have it completed incorrectly or not at all. This often leads managers to conclude that “If you want it done right you have to do it yourself.” Other supervisors fail to delegate because they have trouble letting go of th...

However despite what many think, that doesn't mean that you can’t become a great leader . Introversion and leadership may not seem like a likely combination at first glance, but in fact, it’s exactly people with this type of personality that more often than not, excel in this career path. From Albert Einstein to Mark Zuckerberg ,  history is littered with the legacies of famous introverts  who have become pillars of inspiration and role models that many aspire to. They've proven that you don't need to be the loudest person in the room to be heard. That's because being in charge has less to do with your personality and more to do with your approach and  passion for effectively managing people to achieve your goals. Introverts tend to think before they speak, learn through listening, and are extrem...

The Key To Effective Meditation

Image
After years of trying—and  unfortunately failing—to meditate, I finally came to understand that meditation isn't about white, flowing clothes, a special pillow, incense, candles, or mantras. The objective of meditation isn't necessarily to achieve nirvana or even inner peace. In fact, in essence, meditation is all about learning how our brains work and using proven techniques to increase calm, focus, optimism, and emotional intelligence. The main way to do this is by learning to control your breathing. Deep breaths send soothing oxygen to your amygdala, which is like the brain’s alarm clock, and also activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for rest and recuperation. Sitting quietly with your eyes closed and focusing on something that doesn't require a lot of brain power, like counting the length of your breaths, helps your brain slip into relaxing alpha wave, which brings on a cascade of health benefits ranging from reducing inflammation to...
