Simple Ways That Can Help You Achieve Your Goals

Image
Every year, we create new goals for ourselves, or rather – resolutions but most of us never achieve them. No matter how hard your goals are, there are simple steps you can follow in order for you to be closer to them, if not achieving them in a short time. Let’s start with the way you write down your goals. Instead of making it general, make it very specific. For example, “saving up RM10,000 by the end of the year through work and my freelance photography”. By doing so, you are making it easier on yourself to track your progress. You will also know where you should begin. When you don’t set out a timeline for your goals, you will not be motivated to work for it, and before you know it, another year has passed. So when you are setting your goals, give yourself a deadline and provide yourself with tools and resources to achieve it. That way, you will be more excited to pursue it. Don ’t know how to get started? Creator Academy has many powerful and transformational programme

Productive Things To Do When You Are Bored At Work

Image
We all have those days sometimes. All your work is done and you have asked your peers if there is anything you can help them with but they are all happy with their workload. You are now wrecking your brain trying to figure out things to do to help you pass the time. There are a number of productive things you can do besides aimlessly surfing the web or catching or scrolling your Facebook page. You can start by cleaning up your work station. Believe it or not your work station plays a big role in setting up your mood and helping you get work done. Plus, you never know, you might find a few office tools that you might need. The next thing you can do is to go through your list of things to do. Maybe you have an article you’ve been working on, or you wanted to do some research about your next holiday destination. Use your free time to do some of the works you have been putting aside. It will not only help you be more productive but it will also give you more free time at home.

How To Handle Rejection

Image
At some point in every individual’s life, we would have tasted rejection before – and it is not a good taste. Some individuals even fear trying because they fear the feeling of being rejected. While rejection is a part of life, there are steps you can take to make it easier for you to face rejection and move on from it. First of all it is important to remember that even the most successful people get rejected and sometimes it is not your fault – not everyone likes the same cup of tea. Remind yourself that maybe what you have to offer does not suit certain people but there are billions other people out there, and if you keep going, you will find someone who values what you have. This works for both your personal and professional life. Oprah Winfrey was once fired as a journalist because she wasn’t good enough for TV while the actress who played Phoebe, the main character of the sitcom ‘Friends’ got fired from a TV show called ‘ Frasier ’ before she was casted in the sitcom that mad

Are You Holding Yourself Back?

Image
Remember when we were young, had high hopes and big dreams for ourselves? Some of us grow up and achieve it, some of us are still dreaming about it, with no hopes of turning it into reality, while a number of us stay hopefuls. Some people even blame society and other people for not being able to achieve their dreams. But have you ever thought that maybe it is yourself that is holding you back? Your thoughts are very powerful and when you were younger you have not yet been fed with society’s expectations of you. As we grow up, we are taught to do things a specific way and most of us try to fit in with the social norm of going to college, getting a job, getting married and vice versa. As an individual, you still have the power to chase after your goals. All you need to do is to change your mind-set. You have to believe that it is still achievable and work hard to prove you are right. As the law of attraction says, you attract what you put out there, so put in hard work. Creat

Developing An Attitude Of Gratitude

Image
The word gratitude originated from the Latin word gratus , which means ‘pleasing’ or ‘ thankful ’. Gratitude is an act of showing appreciation and to return kindness. What it means by developing an attitude of gratitude is that you practise being thankful even for the smallest things. Start when you wake up in the morning. Every time you wake up, think of three things you are thankful for. It can be the fact that you are still breathing, you have a job that puts food on the table and that you have a roof to sleep under. Before you go to bed, think of three more things you are thankful for. Maybe you had a good meal at work or your bus arrived 10 minutes earlier. When you start being thankful for the little things, you will worry a lot less. This will leave you more space to work on more productive things like improving your life skills or reconnecting with your family. By showing appreciation as well, you are letting more positive things to come your way. Creator Academy

3 Ways To Be Happy

Image
Nowadays, we hear a lot of people suffering from mental illness. A lot of us are functioning under stress and unfortunately fail to find a way to overcome it, slowly leading it into depression. If you are feeling a little blue or stress, here are some simple trick you can follow to feel happy again. The first thing you can do is to exercise. It can be a jog or a 30 minute swim as long as you work out. This is because working out releases serotonin, a hormone that is responsible for happiness. The next thing you can do is to go for a walk in the nature. Nature is the universe’s anti-depressant. It allows you to be in touch with yourself in a deeper level, and help you de-stress. The third thing you can do is spreading kindness or helping someone out. It can be something as simple as helping an elderly cross the street or helping your partner prepare dinner. MRI technology shows that the action of giving activates the same parts of the brain that are stimulated by food and sex. So,

The 8 Types Of Intelligence

Image
Do you know that there are more types of intelligence than IQ and EQ? In 1983, in a book entitled Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Howard Gardner proposed that there are 8 types of intelligence. The 8 types of intelligence according to Gardner includes - musical-rhythmic, spatial intelligence, linguistic intelligence, logical-mathematical, bodily-kinaesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. In 1999, Gardner added spiritual intelligence to his original 7 (Naturalistic was added in 1995) and added teaching-pedagogical intelligence in 2016. What does these different intelligence mean? It means that we cannot simply measure wisdom by how much IQ and EQ level we have, rather Gardner proposes that the theory should “empower learners” so that they are not restricted to one type of learning. So maybe you can’t score 90% in your school test, that’s okay. Maybe your intelligence lie somewhere else. Gardner’s theory is proof it’ s possible. Don

Why Learning To Say ‘No’ Can Be A Good Thing

Image
The word ‘No’ is often associated to being negative, and while ‘No’ is a form of negative statement, it can affect you in a good way. Especially in a professional environment, we are programmed to say ‘Yes’ to everything, especially when the request comes from our superiors. We are programmed to think that by saying ‘Yes’ we are showing how hard-working we are. However, often times, it takes a toll on our mind and body. If you are already slammed with a month’s work but you are given another task that will require you to postpone other tasks, politely say ‘No’ and then explain about the work load that you already have. As busy as work can get, it is important to take care of your body and soul and that means, declining to some request. Such case is true for your personal life as well. For example, it is okay to say ‘No’ to a weekend party because you want to read and rest at home instead. It is okay to say ‘No’ to going out because you want to save money instead. At the end of the

Key To Success: Resilience

Image
Success doesn’t come easy, and if you ask anyone who is successful, they will tell you how many times they have failed. Everyone is given the same opportunity and everyone has tasted failure at least once in their life, but why are some people more successful than others? The key here is resilience. Resilience is your ability to stand back up after you have been knocked down. The more resistant you are from failure, the closer you are to being successful. People who are resilient doesn’t see failure as a reason to stop, they see it as a reason to try harder and as a lesson to learn from.  Thomas Edison failed 1000 times before he successfully created the light bulb. When asked what it was like to fail that many times, his response was, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.” When you are faced with failure, take a step back. Breathe, identify what you did wrong and start again with an improved move. Slowly but surely, you will figure out a wa

How Your Personality Type Affects Your Career Choice

Image
Ever wonder why some people are so happy about being an accountant while some can’t stand the idea of working with numbers every day? This trait might be highly related to your personality type. In scholarly studies on personality influences in career choice, experts recommend individuals to focus their attention on understanding their personal characteristics and traits as before finding their passion. Personal understanding reveals passion and allows you to pursue a career that leads to personal and professional satisfaction. To support the finding, another study done at the University of Zurich found that people “who can apply personal character strengths in careers, experience more enjoyment, flow and meaning at work.” This is why some people do well at being an accountant, while some people excel at being a graphic designer. Personality type can be identified by taking a number of tests like the Myer-Briggs personality test, Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16 PF), E

Giving Constructive Feedback To Improve Character Building

Image
When working in a team, you will face someone who at times might not deliver their works as expected. That being said, nobody likes taking criticism and when you lead a team, it is important to remember that criticism doesn’t work. Instead, try expressing your disappointment in the form of constructive feedback. When you give constructive feedback, you are highlighting what your team is doing wrong but you also offer him an explanation and solution. For example, when a report you receive has grammatical error, instead of saying, “I don’t like this report, do it again.” You can tell the person, “there are a few grammatical errors in this report, I would like you to check it again, ask help from Mr. A if you need to.” Constructive feedback allows an individual to understand where the mistake was made and what they can do to avoid it. By doing so, you are not criticising anybody’s work effort instead you are offering them room for improvement. This, will make your team members feel e

Creating Workstations That Will Increase Productivity

Image
A work station is not just a table to put your desktop and a chair for you to sit on, its function serves more than just a space that lets you work. If done right, a work station can either increase productivity or promote procrastination. So how do you know if your workstation is serving you the right amount of productivity? Take Google for example. The organisation offers sleeping pods for employees to take quick naps and rejuvenate in order to promote creativity. They also take a more colourful and fun approach to their office design. On the other hand, Facebook promotes an open space free of cubicles and walls to maintain an open door policy. By doing so, Facebook allows employees to approach managers at any time for discussion. You don’t need to do a huge change to your office or workspace but there are certainly a few tweaks that can be made easily. For example, having a small plant or your favourite childhood character figurine that you can rest your eyes on when the work g

Being Productive On The Internet

Image
Often times we find ourselves scrolling through our phones. We look at pictures posted by friends, we browse recipes and funny videos, and we endlessly scroll until it is time for bed. A research in 2015 showed that an average person spends 1 hour 40 minutes on social media; that is 28% of time spent on the internet. But what are we getting out of the time we spent scrolling endlessly? When the internet was first invented, its intention was to make communication between separate computer systems at various universities and research laboratories more convenient. So when did this noble creation become one of human’s biggest distraction? There are a lot of ways to be productive on the internet. When you have nothing to do while waiting for a friend, scroll through Youtube for tutorials videos that can enhance your skills instead. It can be something as simple as how to tie a necktie or a more complex video like learning CSS codes. If you are not into videos, read an online book or

Attract Good Things With Good Thoughts

Image
Have you ever seen someone and think about how lucky they are? Your friend in high school married her high school lover, landed her dream job in the big apple and is now buying her second car, and you can’t help but say to yourself, “some people are just lucky.” Yes, some people are, but often times they work hard too. What if I tell you, you can have the same luck too? Will you work hard for it? The law of the universe says that it will only serve you what you give them. It is always just. So if you put negative energy into the world, the universe will serve you the negative outcome you gave; hence why you should practise filling your thoughts with positivity. When you wake up every morning, tell yourself that today is going to be a good day and focus on your positive energy. Maybe you are late for work because your car broke down. Fix it and then shift your energy to the positive things that happened or might happen. For example, your car broke down but you got a lift from a fri

The Importance of Being a Responsible Person

Image
Every human being born in this world has their share of responsibilities – whether taking care of their children, ensuring they complete their job as required or studying to pursue their degree in Economics. Each of us has our own share of personal, social and environmental responsibility and we are required to be the most responsible person we can be for the betterment of the world at large. But what exactly does it mean to be “responsible”? Because often times we hear phrases such as “you are an irresponsible person” or “you have no sense of responsibility” or any other phrases along that line. Responsibility, as defined in the dictionary is “the state or fact of being accountable or to blame for something.” Now why exactly should we aspire to become responsible adults? Because being a responsible person is a sign of good character, maturity and reliability – all of which are desirable personality traits for anyone to possess. Being a responsible person also makes us feel g

Get Productive and Stay Productive

Image
With our smartphones, tablets and computers within an arm’s reach can be a challenge to be productive. There’s nothing wrong with rewarding yourself with some internet time or other activities you enjoy. But if you constantly find yourself stressed out, trying to keep track of your many tasks and convincing yourself you have more time than you do, maybe you need to start finding the thrill and joy in productivity! Yes. Being productive does not cause stress, but rather, relieves it. And it gives you energy, motivation and direction towards your goals. Goals not only help to measure your progress, but they give you a sense of direction and purpose. Setting goals will keep you motivated and give you willingness to keep up with day to day productivity. In an ideal world, the time allotted for personal goals and tasks should be greater than time on technological devices. In order to limit time on these devices, consider limiting all social media feeds. Another trick to moderate your

Finding Inspiration to Keep Motivated

Image
Inspiration is the inner drive that keeps you moving forward. It stirs your soul and stimulates your thinking. When you’re inspired, you naturally do the things you need to do. You don’t need something or someone else to push to get you moving. You do it because it’s what you want do, and not because you were forced into it. Maintaining this state can be tough though, and sometimes it’s hard to wake up feeling full of enthusiasm. Life isn’t always easy, however like the law of attraction states, your life is often a reflection of your own thoughts. That’s why if you can find a way to encourage yourself and get inspired a little today, then maybe tomorrow and every day after that, will turn out a little better! Consciously being aware of your mental state is a key to maintaining your motivation and enthusiasm, so keep your dreams alive and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. The Roles of Attitude and Aptitude in Success

Image
Trying to succeed is an integral human behaviour that pays no heed to superficial and emotional factors. We are built to want something more, to improve ourselves, and to be a better person than who we were yesterday. Simply put, it is the only method you have for being successful in life and in the end, it all comes down to how well you manage it. Always bear in mind that in the path to success, your attitude determines what and how much you can do. It is the element responsible for guiding your aptitudes. You have an advantage if you know that your success or failure depends on your attitudes. Start taking a closer look within and see if you have been too focused on what you want to achieve that it didn’t even cross your mind to check if you are still truly YOU. If you have, determine what led you astray and work hard at finding the correct set of aptitudes and attitudes. If you have not, then don’t lose track and continue keeping a close eye on yourself. Only you can make your o

How to Speed Up Your Learning Process

Image
Why do all of us always envy the smartest one around? Because he/she can rapidly grasp any new concept faster than the rest. But what makes these geniuses so special? Is it just the intellect they possess? No, it’s also their method of learning that largely determine their success. The ability to learn new concepts quickly is a huge asset - but it’s not easily acquired. It comes with hard work, focus, and precision. Always remember that when you are trying to grasp a concept, it’s not about how many hours you spend on it, it’s about how focused you are. Otherwise, the time may just as well be wasted. Just think about it – the amount of time spent on learning should be determined by how many hours were spent paying plain, focused attention to the topic. Get rid of any possible distraction so that at least the little time spent would be effective. If you feel tired or lose attention, just take a quick break and then get back to the topic. Learning something new can be a pleasant e

Success is the Best Revenge

Image
None of the world’s most successful people have experienced a life amiss with failure. In fact, the world’s most  famous and successful people have failed the most times . The only difference between them and others is that they didn’t give up. But that’s also why success is so sweet after so many bitter failures, and why success can often be the best revenge. In order to reach success, we need to fail numerous times. Sometimes, we need to fail hundreds or thousands of times. Often, each of those failures can seem like catastrophic events on their own. So to say that victory tastes that much sweeter after so many failures is somewhat of an understatement. After many failures and years of pushing towards something, success can seem like the ultimate revenge. Not just to those that are around you, but even to yourself. Why? Because we can become our own worst enemy at certain times in our lives with all the fear and self-doubt that we tend to harbour and hold while trying to achiev

How to Be In Control of Your Future

Image
You determine your future . Sometimes you encounter situations that make you question your luck. You could be the desperate single lady, or the sterile man with no kids, or the college graduate with a bad job and less pay. At that point, you begin to desire and wish you had someone else’s life. But do you know that your situation is not entirely a coincidence, things can be made to happen and it’s not always by chance?  So, what is the solution? How do you break yourself loose from this? How can you stop your fear from making these important decisions being made unconsciously on your behalf? How can you remove negative unconscious behaviours? The solution is to challenge the negativity, not to replace it, but to remove it along with all mental trigger systems where this belief is hooked to. In this case, we are referring to the human hard drive which is your mind, and it needs new information about your strengths. As a result, you will believe more in yourself and make positive

Take a Break

Image
Sometimes worldly obligations can be too demanding – especially for those working in fast paced environments such as banking, information technology, restaurants or insurance companies. As the economy shrinks and organisations start to downsize, many individuals become more unsettled and work longer hours and gravitate toward hunting for second jobs, if in dire need. The result is an overly stressed population who take very minimal care of themselves. The stress sometimes causes us to practise living an unhealthy lifestyle – eating overly processed food and avoiding exercise. This practice, done repeatedly, can be the cause of many illnesses if it is not prevented earlier. Symptoms of severe illnesses may not necessarily show up early – it could show up many years later as a result of the body being overly taxed – and by then, it would already be too late to reverse the disease or illness. Now, what do I want you to do? I want you to take a break. It doesn’t have to be long -

Inner Changes Create Outer Changes

Image
Did you know that our thinking pattern plays a huge role in shaping the quality of our life? Laziness, excessive worrying and fear of trying new things will keep us in the same place in life. Changing our thinking patterns can transform our life accordingly. Our habitual thoughts, and the content of our subconscious mind determine our behaviour and the way we react and act. If we want changes in our life, we can begin by changing our thought patterns. Change begins from visualisation. Start to visualise how you would like to live your day tomorrow, in a year, 5 years or 10 years – and slowly build habits and take action that will lead you to the desired life as visualised. By thinking and visualising a better and different kind of life - these thoughts will soon be absorbed and engrained into our subconscious mind where we would be motivated, inspired and energised to take action. Now, our visualisation brings us to new thoughts which lead us to bringing new expectations and h

Tough Times Build Character

Image
Throughout life we will be tested with trials and hardships that we cannot run from – but face. Adversities and suffering are opportunities for learning and growth. They help us understand ourselves, others and the world around us. Sometimes, they can be seen as blessings in disguise and though we face trying times, it helps us gain strength, wisdom and empathy. Loss of jobs, loss of a loved ones, failing relationships or finding out that we’ve been hit with a disease – these are hardships that any one of us can experience in a lifetime which test our will and our spirit. Each of us will respond differently to these setbacks – some may blame themselves, get angry or cast blame to others – but what we must do is to keep our spirit strong and remain calm, level headed and positive that things can turn around, despite how dark the present moment can seem. The way we react to these circumstances can impact our long term success. Be an inspiration to others and keep up your str

Invest in Yourself

Image
Investing in yourself is one of the most worthwhile and one of the best return on investment you can make. It can be in the form of learning a new skill, talent, or developing yourself personally or professionally. In this digital age, we are overloaded with too much information which can be obtained at the tip of our fingertips – through our smart technologies such as the smartphones, tablets, laptops and the likes. It is impossible to not make something of yourself in this day where information is ready available to you. You can easily learn many new skills through YouTube channels and online educational sites (like sewing, making cakes and pastries, learning a new language and many more) at no cost. Though, the only cost you would have to bear is the internet data on your mobile phone – otherwise you could head over to a coffee shop or a library and use Wi-Fi for free. If you want to leave a memorable impact to the world, take responsibility now and develop your gifts and talents

Gain Better Self-Discipline

Image
While there are many qualities that can contribute to a person’s success and happiness, if it isn’t without self-disciplines, then the achievements could hardly be sustainable in the future. The principle applies in all aspects whether in terms of fitness, work ethics, relationships or diet, self-discipline is a necessary trait needed to accomplish our goals, to lead a healthy lifestyle and to ultimately be happy. A study was conducted by Wilelm Hoffman who concluded that people with high self-control are happier than those without. The conclusion came about as the study showed that self-disciplined subjects were more adept at dealing with goal conflicts. The subjects were able to make positive decisions more easily and spent less time indulging in behaviours damaging to their health. Self-controlled and self-disciplined subjects were more prone to making rational and informed decisions on a daily basis and did not allow their choices to be dictated by impulses or feelings.  Self-

Challenge Yourself into Unknown Territory

Image
Oftentimes, the unknown territory can be frightening, uncomfortable and give us the chills. What I mean by unknown territory is a new environment, new job, a project or a skill, for example. These unknown territories frighten us because it requires us to step outside of our comfort zone. But did you know that stepping outside of our comfort zone can bring a whole new meaning to us as a person? You become more dynamic, well rounded and valuable. Let’s look at it this way. Sandra has been living in the same city for 23 years, kept to the same group of friends and never ventured outside of her own country. She was shy and believed in guarding her well protected comfort zone. Iris, on the other hand, loved travelling, making new sets of friends and trying different activities. Now to compare the two, who do you think has a better chance at grabbing more opportunities for success? The answer to that would be Iris for sure, no? Being more open to trying new experiences can help us o
