It’s hard to stay optimistic and enthusiastic when you think the same fear based thoughts over and over again.  Studies show that we have about 50,000 thoughts per day, and 90% of them are repetitive.  Other research indicates that 77% of everything that most people think about is negative, self-damaging, and counterproductive. The first step to break this cycle of destructive thinking is to become more aware of what thoughts are running through your mind.  This can take vigilance because the ego identifies with the thoughts. Witnessing your thoughts requires stepping back and listening to what you are telling yourself. The most obvious time to practice is when you are not feeling good about something. Ask yourself: Is this thought true? Is this thought helpful? Dream Big – Set A Goal – Achieve It

The happiest and most successful people are those who have figured out how to exploit their inherent tendencies or talents effectively for to their own benefit, more importantly how to offset their weaknesses limitations. While it’s important to dream big, it can seem overwhelming when we set huge goals. We can become unsure of how to get started, resulting in nothing getting done. So while you should dream big, it’s important to plan small. Break down your big goals into smaller ones and then tackle them individually. When it’s broken down into achievable phases, it feels more manageable and you are more likely to keep moving ahead. When working towards a big goal or dream, it’s important to stay motivated every day. Motivation doesn’t always come constantly or easily however, so I find writing down your ‘why’ and practicing visualizations of how you will feel once you reach your goal are both awesome tools to help with motivation.
