The 8 Types Of Intelligence

Do you know that there are more types of intelligence than IQ and EQ? In 1983, in a book entitled Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Howard Gardner proposed that there are 8 types of intelligence. The 8 types of intelligence according to Gardner includes - musical-rhythmic, spatial intelligence, linguistic intelligence, logical-mathematical, bodily-kinaesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. In 1999, Gardner added spiritual intelligence to his original 7 (Naturalistic was added in 1995) and added teaching-pedagogical intelligence in 2016. What does these different intelligence mean? It means that we cannot simply measure wisdom by how much IQ and EQ level we have, rather Gardner proposes that the theory should “empower learners” so that they are not restricted to one type of learning. The truth of the matter is that life is a made up of a series of calculated decisions which are balanced by their risk vs. reward. Everything that you decide to do has a margin of risk. No outcome is ever 100 percent certain and, therefore, any attempt at anything has a chance of complete failure. We risk everything, every day of our lives without knowing it. There's a chance that we'll never make it to our destination, a chance we won't get to see our loved ones again, a chance that tomorrow will never come. Life is all about risks – you take some and you avoid others. The reality is that no matter how much we try to avoid risk and hide from pain, it will still find us, even if just in the form of feelings of regret. A lack of life motivation can come down to not knowing what you want in life. It can also be that you don’t really want anything out of life. However, this is rarely the real reason for not having motivation in life. It’s hard to find out what you want for your life if you are currently in the wrong mindset. Let’s say you’re stressed out. Would it be a good time to ask you to put together a business plan? Probably not. So in order to find that motivation in your life to do things, you will first need to get yourself in the right state of mind.
