Healthy Habits at Work
Offices aren't environments which are conducive
to the forming of healthy habits. From staring at computer screens for hours,
to sitting at your desk all day, to ordering fast food or surviving on snacks,
work life usually wreaks havoc on whatever healthy living plan you may have set
for yourself, if not managed correctly. It is important that whatever the
reality of your job, we take some effort and planning to stay healthy during
your 9-to-5.
The simplest change you can make is to
consciously try and walk more throughout the workday, and avoid being glued to
your desk for a long period of time. This could mean choosing a printer farther
or the farthest from your desk, making a trip to the water fountain once per
hour, scheduling walking meetings rather than sit-downs, or parking further
away from the office so you have a bit of walking time before as well as after
work. Furthermore, other creative ways to getting a workout during office hours
is by getting a standing desk to keep you from sitting all day, or get a desk
peddler that allows you to get your heart pumping while you work. Additionally,
stocking up on anti-inflammatory snacks like avocados, berries, nuts and
pineapple, can help curb unhealthy hunger cravings throughout the day.
