Control Your Anger before It Controls You
Anger
is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of
control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems at work, in your
personal relationships, and affect the overall quality of your life negatively.
Worst of all, it can make you feel as though you're at the mercy of an
unpredictable and powerful emotion. People
who are constantly putting others down, criticising everything, and making
cynical comments, most probably haven't learned how to constructively express
their anger. Not surprisingly, they aren't likely to have many successful
relationships.
The
first step is to make a conscious decision not accept your feelings, and then
look for a positive way to channel all that pent-up emotion. The aim is to
inhibit or suppress your anger and convert it into more constructive behaviour.
At the end of the day, feeling anger is not wrong in itself, but it is how we
then react to that feeling that dictates whether it will be a negative force
upon our lives.
